Damhuset is an integrated institution built for 128 children in several day care centres and nurseries. It was completed in 2021. Focus is on children, and the wonderful and educational surroundings offer a wealth of activities such as workshops and motor skills rooms.

Damhuset is based on set values; presence, care, community, respect, credibility and commitment. The building is designed with education in mind to give children the best framework to develop at their own pace. There are plenty of opportunities for movement and exploration, physically as well as sensually.

The exterior is clad with ThermoWood from Frøslev Træ. The façade is welcoming and warm, encouraging children to explore the outdoors and learn about nature. ThermoWood from Frøslev Træ is heat-treated pine that carries the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and originates from sustainable forestry. No toxins or harmful gases are used in the process. The material is therefore ideal for day care centres.

Architects Norconsult helped design the impressive day care centre. The result is a home-like and safe base where Risskov’s children can learn and develop on their own terms in beautiful and natural settings.
