Herlev Åhuse

Herlev Åhuse was constructed between 2013 and 2015, and when the project was completed in 2015, 12 brand-new double houses were ready for private use. The area around the new homes is a green space where the green of the city combines with the river. This interaction with nature can also be seen on the houses with ThermoWood from Frøslev Træ on the façades.

The villas are built at split levels and are displaced from each other without compromising on floor space which had to be the same for all homes. The result is a cohesive, yet individual, new neighbourhood that adorns Herlev.

ThermoWood is an exciting material to work with on wooden façades. It is heat-treated using heat and steam, making it perfect for a wooden façade that will last long without the use of toxins and harmful gases. It is in perfect harmony with the nature surrounding the beautiful homes.

KANT Arkitekter A/S worked with contractor W. Lynggaard Petersen A/S to construct the new villas. Building owner Samvirkende Boligselskaber (SAB) is behind the project. The double houses only add even more beauty to Herlev’s cityscape.

Wood and profiles

  • The houses are clad with the Nordic Ecolabel ThermoWood.
Frøslev Embla ThermoWood has a warm, brown shade, and if you leave it untreated, it will get a beautiful, silver grey patination that gets even more beautiful over the years. Jørgen K. Johansen, Production Manager COO Frøslev
