Kajstaden

Kajstaden is a new residential area close to the water in Västerås with views to Mälaren. The new buildings were ready for occupancy in 2018 and have since been an inspiring and stylish home for all residents. Frøslev Træ supplied panels and wooden roofs in ThermoWood for five houses with flats, the highest of which has nine floors, while the remaining buildings have four floors.

The panels have been fire-proofed to meet fire requirements. Some are dyed, others are not. They provide a dynamic play of colours and shapes on the buildings, making them exciting for residents as well as passers-by. The flats offer beautiful views and natural materials that allow the buildings to go hand in hand with the surrounding nature without compromising the modern design.

ThermoWood is currently used in more and more buildings. The reason most likely is that it is an exciting and different wood product. ThermoWood is heat-treated without toxins and harmful gases, making them durable and unique boards that constitute, among other things, exciting façades on any building.

The houses were designed by architect C.F. Møller. The project was brought to life by contractor Consto who worked together with the developer, Slättö Förvaltning, to create stylish buildings with flats for residents of all ages and family compositions.
