The day care centre Lærkereden is an integrated institution with room for 46 preschoolers and 12 nursery children, located in scenic surroundings in Roskilde. Lærkereden was completed in 2017. It is an integrated preschool and nursery with values such as peace, presence and immersion. The well-being and development of the children are paramount which is clearly reflected in their new premises.

The façades are clad with ThermoAsk from Frøslev Træ which combines the building and Roskilde’s nature with wooden structures and natural colours. At the time of construction, ThermoAsk has a dark brown and deep colour which will patinate over the years into a silver-grey shade which allows the building and the wood to remain beautiful for many years.

ThermoAsk is an interesting product as it is heat-treated with no use of toxins or harmful gases. It gives the wood its distinctive look and ensures that it can withstand everything to which it might be exposed in a day care centre.

Architect Arkiplus drew and designed the day care centre of Lærkereden. The final product is a haven for small children. They enjoy a large playground in scenic surroundings and a safe base that will allow them to develop at their own pace.
