Sigtuna Stadsängar

SigtunaHem’s ambition is to build Sweden’s most sustainable district north of Stockholm. The district consists of environmentally certified rental housing with pleasant common areas and cutting-edge design. Fire-proofed façade panels of ThermoWood from Frøslev Træ were used for the project among other materials. Both coloured and natural façade panels were supplied.

This project was completed in 2020, and the Swedish district is an exciting experiment in innovation, sustainability and beautiful architecture. The neighbourhoods are all distinctive yet manage to communicate and become a coherent look that makes Sigtuna stadsängar a very special area to live in and visit.

ThermoWood is a good product for this project. It is heat-treated without the use of toxins and harmful gases and does not make it necessary to compromise on durability and design. Sigtuna stadsängar will therefore get a sustainable and stylish material for their construction. It matches their ambitions with the extensive construction.

The building owner, SigtunaHem, chose Wingårdhs Arkitekter and contractor Boetten Bygg AB for this project. The result is a very special district in Sweden which will be at the forefront of both architecture and sustainability for many years to come.
