Skolen Paa Duevej 46

The school, Skolen, at Duevej

In 2017, the historic school of Skolen at Duevej in Frederiksberg was presented with its new premises. The ground-breaking project has since presented its best qualities and was the first school in Denmark to be DGNB-certified for sustainability and architectural quality.

When looking at the magnificent school, you will understand why. The Canadian cedar from Frøslev Træ creates the perfect setting for the students while presenting to the residents of Frederiksberg an architectural work of art. Over the years, the wood will experience a natural patina which will let the façade blend in with the area and make it a natural extension of all the best that Frederiksberg has to offer.

Pure lines and uncompromising design invite even small children to play and explore outdoors as well as indoors. The yard is a huge playground with different areas of activity with focus on children’s well-being and physical activities.

The building was designed by AART Architects and NORDIC – OFFICE OF ARCHITECTURE. It has been prepared in collaboration with contractor Elindco, and the building owner is Frederiksberg Municipality. They have worked together to create a building that will be an inspiration for many other Danish schools in years to come.
